Goodman Products

Air Conditioners

Air Conditioners

Air Conditioners

There are six different Goodman air conditioner units, including three that can adjust their cooling power to minimize the amount of energy they use. These AC units earn respectable SEER ratings from 24.5 to 17. The other three AC units are basic but durable and come with a two-year unit replacement limited warranty. Goodman air conditioners feature:

  • Single-, two-, and variable-speed Copeland compressors
  • SEER ratings up to 24.5
  • Minimum two-year unit replacement and 10-year parts limited warranties
  • 500-hour spray-salt tested cabinet finish

Heat Pumps

Air Conditioners

Air Conditioners

Goodman offers a heat pump lineup similar to that of its air conditioners. Its top three models also have proprietary ComfortBridge technology that allows for better energy efficiency, and they're enclosed in a galvanized steel case. As with its air conditioners, Goodman’s heat pumps run somewhat louder than similar models from other brands, with sound levels of 72 to 76 decibels. However, the higher decibels may be worth its strong warranty. Goodman heat pumps feature:

  • Single-, two-, and variable-speed Copeland compressors
  • SEER ratings up to 24.5
  • Minimum two-year unit replacement and 10-year parts limited warranties
  • 500-hour spray-salt tested cabinet finish

Furnaces

Air Conditioners

Furnaces

Goodman sells gas furnaces (not oil furnaces) and divides its 27 models into those with Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) ratings of 90% and higher and those with AFUE ratings between 80% and 90%. Its top-of-the-line furnace is comparable to high-efficiency furnaces from other major brands with an AFUE rating of 98% and built-in energy-saving technologies, but it sells for less. Goodman furnaces feature:

  • Multi- and variable-speed blowers
  • Aluminized-steel heat exchanger for optimum durability
  • Up to 10-year unit replacement and 10-year parts limited warranties
  • 20-year or lifetime limited warranty on the heat exchanger

Goodman Frequently Asked Questions

Generally, the reset button of the Goodman AC unit is located on the outdoor unit, especially where tubing is done on the unit. There may be chances of this high-pressure switch tripping when hot, so it is advised to look for any dirt or grime clogging the coil.

If your Goodman air conditioner isn't turning on, check your fuse box or circuit breaker. Reset the circuit or fix the blown fuse if warranted. Next, try resetting your AC. Your unit should have a reset button in a visible location.

Covering the outdoor unit in the winter months prevents unwanted debris from accumulating on the outdoor unit and later impeding airflow to the outdoor unit. At the same time accidentally operating the outdoor unit with a covering in place could cause system damage. It is recommended that high voltage power always be disconnected from the outdoor unit whenever a cover or anything obstructing airflow is introduced.

Here are several tips to help you keep your HVAC system running efficiently:

  • Change the air filters every month or as directed by your system’s manufacturer.
  • Cut back foliage and remove any leaves, grass trimmings or debris left by nearby dryer vents that might be blocking air flow to the air conditioner or heat pump.
  • Have your system serviced by a licensed professional HVAC dealer before peak season.

Anything that prevents airflow from making its way to the outdoor coil can negatively affect the efficiency and performance of the equipment. Make it a priority to keep the space around the equipment clean and clear.
